Musky Jasmin
Well. My folks cleaned out their attic the other weekend and found my 1980's Seventeen magazine collection I saved from when I was a teenager. These things are worth their weight in gold. In very good condition, I've been scanning in the most puzzling articles and ads to share with you.
Here's the first. The copy is so confusing and I can't quite figure out what they're trying to sell. WHAT the fuck is "musky jasmin?" A sweet-smelling crotch perhaps? Tangy BO? Is she sniffing her fingers?
Ideas? Anyone?

I believe this is the younger sister of Love's Baby Soft, and that perhaps they decided not to call it "Love's Musky Jasmin" because that would sound too much like something else. (Just a thought.)
My favorite part is the line "There is a moment when one kind of love gives way to another."
Man, if that's not selling the sort of adolecent action I was looking for in the '80s, I don't know what is.
Sadly, none of the lovely young ladies I knew seemed interested in letting me catch a whiff of thier Musky Jasmin.
Oh joy, Marlee - I have found Love Baby Soft ads in some of the mags. Will post the most offensive ones soon.
And Steven? I find it hard to believe you were denied access to the source of Musky Jasmin - you stallion, you.
I wore that and Avon's Hawaiian White Ginger.
I just noticed the other hand in the ad. Her father's or her uncles?
Spode that's HIS musky jasmin scent??
Courtesy of a Google search. I think the quote says it all:
Musky Jasmin was first introduced in 1982 by Chattem as part of their Love's line of fragrances. The Love's line was later sold to MEM and eventually bought by Dana. Musky Jasmin was discontinued when the popularity of musk fragrances began to wane. Magazine ads read:
"Like an intriguing woman, the potent, intoxicating jasmine flower blooms only at night, and is the most expensive flower available. The result—a voluptuous floral that defines femininity. A very womanly, romantic, rich, sensual scent of pure jasmine that defines femininity strengthened by the lasting depth of musk."
